East Region Open Water Championships

Southend Swimmers enjoyed success at the East Region Open Water Championships

Kieran Wilkinson collected the Essex County Silver medal and Jack Overell the Essex County Bronze medal in the 2k event at Whitlingham Lake on Sunday 20th July. Masters swimmer Jane Bell was 1^st in the 40 – 49 age group in the Essex County 3k event. Other Southend swimmers taking part were Haydn Good and George Overell swimming in the 2k and Maisie Bell competing in the 800m novice event.

The 5k event was unfortunately abandoned for safety reasons because of the intense thunderstorm and torrential rain.
